![]() Stretch out when you have a chaise lounge on one end of the sofa. Go for a rounded shape to add interest and an air of sophistication to your room. Large spaces accommodate sofas with three or more seats as well as extra-deep seats for added comfort. The size of your sofa depends on the space you have available in your living room. While many contemporary designs include straight lines, they are softer than modern sofas and are combined with plush cushions for a more luxurious look. The legs of contemporary sofas tend to be hidden or are very short. The upholstered cushions are firm and the base is usually raised to expose the legs, which are designed to enhance the modern appeal of the sofa. Modern sofa designs feature straight lines and tend to be angular in shape. Look around at your room decor to determine the style of sofa you need, such as a contemporary leather sofa, a modern sofa or a softer-looking linen sofa. ![]() At west elm, we have numerous styles, sizes and functions to ensure you can relax in comfort with a sofa that perfectly complements its surroundings. ![]() Sofas are undoubtedly the focal point of every living room, so consider the various options available to you before investing in your new sofa. We check weekly for it and still can't get it here on the east coast, yet they've been available for months on the western side of the US.Contemporary Leather Sofas, Modern Sofas + Linen Sofas We've also been waiting (and checking weekly) for the matching ottoman that we initially purchased but were then given a gift card for because they couldn't locate it in the store to fulfill our order. I've thought about replacing the slipcovers (of course all of the others are considerably more expensive), but am hesitant to spend more money to have them do the same thing. The slip covers are pilling terribly, and the covers look like we've had them for years. Here we are about 6 months later, and the couch (and matching chair) are still hard as rocks. The seating is uncomfortably firm, but I was certain that they would soften up once broken in. I had contemplated for years getting the Ektorp or Uppland, and finally decided to take the plunge. I had to iron the entire slipcover again because of all the wrinkles. It's also very easy to mark up and I did not have good luck washing them. You can't just wipe something off the sofa because the material has grooves and grips the crumbs. We have the totebo beige and whatever this material is it hangs on to crumbs. Nearly impossible to get on, and then they never look right no matter how hard you try. And these slip covers are equally as frustrating. We tried putting the cushions in the wrong way (because there is a "right" way) and that helped for a few months but now where back in the same boat. The chaise especially looks ridiculous because the part where you sit is significantly lower than the foot of the chaise. After months of use, they show signs of where people sit, but they don't get any softer. We've had this sofa for 18 months now and I have the same frustrations now as I did when we bought it. ![]() I normally LOVE IKEA products, but they really missed the mark with this sofa. I want to wash the fabric to see if all of the water spots would come out but I’m terrified to remove the fabric and attempt to put it back on! I’m moving soon and sadly won’t be bringing this sofa with me. After a year of use, the cushions, ESPECIALLY the chaise, look worn and indented while the front part of the chaise still looks puffy and firm. The fabric pills terribly and leaves water stains whenever you try to dab it to spot clean. One of the back cushions wasn’t stitched properly at the seam and it looks like very poor workmanship. There were loose fabrics sticking up on various parts of the sofa, especially the back cushions immediately after purchase. The fabric has never laid right, especially on the chaise, and was very difficult to put on. I normally never write reviews, but I bought this sofa nearly a year ago and have been super disappointed ever since.
